ABOUT ORDE FINANCIAL
ORDE is a rapidly growing non-bank mortgage lending business committed to elevating Australian specialist lending standards. We provide comprehensive product solutions and deliver leading service levels, leveraging digital capabilities and deep industry experience.
We are passionate (and a bit obsessed…) about being disruptive and pushing hard to improve the experience and results for mortgage brokers. Our purpose “Built for Brokers” is clear and simple and define our entire strategy (delivering better experiences, more value and opportunity, anticipating more needs and communicating more solutions, for brokers and their customers).
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a Security Analyst to join our Technology team, with a strong focus on day-to-day security operations, incident management, and continuous improvement of our security controls. This role is accountable for detecting, responding to, and learning from security incidents, working closely with our managed security partners and internal technology teams. While some strategic input is required, a senior hands‑on security role with end‑to‑end ownership of operational security outcomes. The role requires strong independent judgement, the ability to prioritise risk, and confidence operating as the primary security practitioner across day‑to‑day operations.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Act as the internal security owner for the MDR service, including tuning outcomes, quality of investigations, and escalation thresholds.
- Lead security incidents end‑to‑end, including decision‑making during incidents, coordination across teams, executive communication where required, and post‑incident recommendations.
- Set risk‑based security priorities by independently assessing threats, control gaps, and business impact.
- Execute and own security control improvements across cloud, SaaS, identity, and endpoints in line with those priorities.
- Partner with internal technology teams to embed security controls into platforms, services, and operational processes.
- Maintain and improve incident response procedures, playbooks, and documentation.
- Conduct vulnerability management activities, including scanning, prioritisation, remediation tracking, and validation.
- Design, deliver, and continuously improve cyber security awareness initiatives, including employee training programs and simulated phishing campaigns.
- Produce clear and accurate security reporting across controls, incidents, vulnerabilities, cyber awareness etc.
- Assist with internal security assessments and audits, focusing on evidence collection and remediation actions.
- Perform third‑party security risk assessments and track findings through to closure.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of pragmatic security policies, standards, and procedures.
- Serve as the primary security advisor for operational matters, providing pragmatic recommendations aligned to ORDE’s risk appetite.
- Operate effectively with minimal supervision, proactively identifying issues and driving them through to resolution.
- Represent security in technology design discussions, change reviews, and incident post‑mortems.
Why would we choose you?
- You have 5+ years’ experience in an operational cyber security or security analyst role.
- Demonstrated experience operating as a senior individual contributor, owning security outcomes with minimal supervision.
- Proven ability to independently lead security incidents and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Experience defining security improvements rather than only implementing predefined tasks.
- Comfortable operating as the primary security point of contact in a small or lean security function.
- Experience working with SOC or MDR providers.
- Comfortable working directly with security tools and platforms.
- Familiarity with security frameworks and standards such as the ACSC Essential Eight, ISO 27001, and NIST
- Security certifications are beneficial but not essential.
- Strong alignment with ORDE’s high‑performance culture.
