About the role
Australia has the talent to build world-class AI infrastructure. We have always exported it. We are done with that.
If you have built at the highest level and you are ready to build something sovereign, something ours, this is the moment. We are pre-seed funded, PoC ready to start. Post PoC you will be working with our sovereign cluster directly, not watching a monitor.
The platform we are building can run cancer research, scientific computing, and the AI workloads that actually matter for this country. We are not building another SaaS tool. We are building infrastructure that changes what Australia can do.
If that is the kind of work you have been waiting for, come talk to us.
We are an early-stage Australian AI infrastructure company building a distributed compute platform that orchestrates AI workloads across AWS and a second decentralised compute provider. We are hiring a DevOps and Cloud Engineer to own the infrastructure layer end to end across a 12-week funded Proof of Concept.
This is a casual role, roughly 20 to 30 hours per week, with a competitive hourly rate commensurate with experience. Sydney based and full working rights or permanent residency.
What you will work on
• Own and manage the AWS environment including EC2 GPU instances, RDS, S3, CloudWatch, and supporting services
• Implement a fully scripted environment teardown and startup cycle to control overnight infrastructure costs
• Build and maintain the provider integration layer connecting our orchestration engine to two compute environments
• Set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code for the full platform
• Implement metric filtering to ensure only user-driven traffic appears in service performance reporting
• Track infrastructure spend weekly and produce a runbook and architecture summary for investor review
What we are looking for
• Strong hands-on AWS experience across EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, and VPC
• Demonstrated scripted infrastructure skills (Terraform, CDK, or equivalent)
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines for multi-service backends
• Containerised workload deployment and GPU instance management
• Monitoring and observability tooling (CloudWatch, Datadog, or similar)
• Cost-conscious mindset. You know what cloud infrastructure costs and you manage it actively.
• Experience with decentralised or heterogeneous compute providers highly regarded
About us
Omega AI HPC is a pre-seed Australian technology company building a platform that federates heterogeneous compute resources into a unified, economically governed service. We have a filed patent, a strong technical advisory team including UNSW researchers and HPC specialists, and a funded PoC targeting a $5M seed round to build Australia’s first sovereign H200 compute cluster.
The infrastructure is not a support function here. It is the product. You will own it and it will matter.
To apply
Apply with your CV and a short note (3 to 5 sentences) on what AWS environments you have owned and what they cost to run. No cover letter required. No recruiters.
