Complex Medical Support Worker

Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Disability Support Worker to support a client with complex care needs. This role is suited to someone with strong clinical support experience and confidence working with high-support clients.

Responsibilities:

• Assist patients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, mobility, and nutrition.
• Monitor and record patients’ vital signs and report any changes to the healthcare team.
• Support healthcare professionals in delivering medical treatments and procedures.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients, adhering to health and safety regulations.
• Provide emotional support and companionship to patients and their families.
• Assist in the preparation and administration of medications as directed by qualified staff.
• Document patient care activities accurately and in a timely manner.

Essential Experience & Skills

• Experience with Phrenic Nerve Stimulator (PNS) / diaphragm pacing management

• Tracheostomy (Trachy) care experience

• Ventilator management experience

• Experience supporting individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

• Understanding or experience supporting clients with Congenital Central Hypoventilation Syndrome (CCHS)

• Ability to follow detailed care plans and clinical instructions

• Strong observation and communication skills

Qualifications:

• Certificate III in Health Services Assistance or equivalent qualification.
• Previous experience in a healthcare or support role is preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
• Compassionate and patient-focused approach to care.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification.
