The Opportunity
Seeking an experienced R&D/Technical Manager to lead our Brisbane pilot plant and analytical research laboratory, whilst providing high-level technical support across the business and to our customers.. This senior role, as R&D Technical Services Manager, combines scientific expertise, operational oversight and collaboration with internal and external partners to drive innovation in nutrition solutions.
- Manage the R&D pilot plant and analytical research laboratory operations at our Brisbane site.
- Build and nurture relationships with external research bodies, service providers, and manufacturing partners.
- Deliver high-quality technical support and information to Sales, Business Development, customers, and distributors.
- Drive and contribute to strategic R&D and New Product Development (NPD) projects.
- Manage department administration, including budgets, resource allocation, and inventory oversight.
- Ensure OH&S compliance and maintain robust Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Provide technical input for intellectual property (IP) development and innovation initiatives.
To succeed
You are a technically strong and commercially minded R&D professional who thrives in a collaborative, fast‑moving environment. You enjoy working across multiple disciplines and engaging with both internal and external stakeholders.
You’ll bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in Food Science, Chemistry, Engineering or a related field
- Extensive experience in R&D, pilot plant operations, or technical services within the food, nutraceutical, or ingredients sectors
- Proven ability to manage external research collaborations and service providers
- Comprehensive knowledge of laboratory operations, analytical methods, and safety compliance
- Excellent cross-functional collaboration and technical communication skills
- Highly organised, entrepreneurial, and solutions-focused with strong project management capabilities
