The Role
We are currently seeking a Safety Assistant to join our team at our pet treat manufacturing facility in Edinburgh North. This role will play a key part in supporting the implementation of our Work Health and Safety systems, compliance programs and safety initiatives across the site.
Reporting to the Group People & Culture Manager, the Safety Assistant will work closely with production, warehouse and management teams to ensure workplace safety standards are maintained and continuously improved.
Key Responsibilities
Support implementation of the site WHS Management System.
Assist with risk assessments, hazard identification and safety inspections.
Investigate incidents, near misses and workplace hazards.
Coordinate safety training, inductions and toolbox talks.
Maintain safety documentation and compliance registers.
Support Return to Work and injury management processes.
Assist with safety audits and regulatory compliance.
Promote a positive safety culture across the site.
About You
You are a practical and proactive safety professional who enjoys working closely with operational teams to improve workplace safety.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
Certificate IV or Diploma in Work Health and Safety or equivalent.
Return to Work Coordinator training.
First Aid certification (desirable).
Emergency Warden certification (desirable).
Previous experience in a Work Health and Safety co-ordination role, preferably within manufacturing, warehouse or industrial environments. New graduates are welcome to apply.
Knowledge of Australian WHS legislation and safety compliance.
Experience conducting incident investigations and risk assessments.
Strong communication and employee engagement skills.
Ability to influence safe work behaviours on the floor.
