Norfolk Island Regional Council is offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader to step into the Acting Waste and Wastewater Manager role for 12 months. Based in one of the most unique and beautiful island communities, you’ll oversee the delivery of essential services that protect the environment, support public health, and serve a tight-knit population.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead operational delivery of waste and wastewater services
  • Manage contractor performance and major asset maintenance
  • Lead service planning and infrastructure improvements
  • Support projects, budgeting, reporting and long-term sustainability planning
  • Promote innovation, safety, and environmental responsibility

About You

You’re a confident service manager with experience in infrastructure, environment, or utility operations. You bring:

  • Proven leadership and operational management skills
  • Experience in waste or wastewater services (preferably both)
  • Sound understanding of regulatory frameworks and WHS
  • Strong communication, problem-solving and team-building capability

Salary: $150,000 + 12% Superannuation
