About the Role:

Team Leader and Group Convenor at Ngwala Willumbong Aboriginal Corporation plays a crucial role in providing leadership and operational support to outreach workers, social and emotional wellbeing positions and youth AOD convenor. Additionally, this role will facilitate group sessions aimed at providing support, sharing knowledge, and supporting community engagement and connection for community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and support case managers by providing professional development and regular supervision.
  • Plan, facilitate and evaluate group activities and discussions.
  • Encourage a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for group members.
  • Manage group dynamics to ensure productive and positive interactions.
  • Provide feedback on group progress to relevant stakeholders.
  • Liaise with the community and other stakeholders.
  • Provide regular updates to Program Manager
  • Manage and supervise, direct and support Service Delivery and relevant Program staff
  • Manage and lead the process of the selection, orientation and performance monitoring of service delivery staff
  • Participate and conduct yearly staff appraisals for Service Delivery and relevant Program Staff
  • Coordinate and deliver timely and accurate internal / external reports as required
  • Provide leadership to staff and ensure the confidentiality of staff and clients is maintained.
  • Act in a professional manner and in accordance with the policies and practices of Ngwala
  • Lead and participate in annual performance appraisals and professional development activities

Skills & Experience:

  • Certificate IV in Community Services, or related field.
  • Experience and understanding of relevant programs; Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD), Homelessness, Social, Emotional Well-Being Positions (SEWB)
  • Ability to provide leadership and line management supervision to a team of specialist workers.
  • Good organisation and time management skills
  • Experience in group facilitation.
  • Deep understanding and respect for Aboriginal and Torre Strait Islander cultures.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Current Victorian driver’s licence
  • National Police Certificate (not older than 3 months)
  • Victorian Employment Working with Children Check
