Trade Cook
• Permanent Part-Time Opportunity, 36 hours / fortnight
• 7.00 am to 1.30 pm – 3 days / week
• Location: Onsite in Kensington; Free Parking
ABOUT THE ROLE
Ngala is currently recruiting for a Permanent Part-Time Trade Cook to support the delivery of menu planning, meal preparation, food handling, serving and storage of food for children and families in a safe and hygienic manner. You will have an understanding of child development and learning, food safety standards and the importance of nutritious meals and snacks.
What You’ll Do
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Maintain a safe environment for children, families and team members.
- Comply with the National Quality Standards (NQS), National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards (NSQHS) and Ngala Policies, Procedures and Requirements.
- Provide a variety of fresh, rotational, nutritional, enjoyable and seasonal menus which meets the needs of clients
- Build and maintain strong and positive relationships with colleagues and clients
- Support a culture of reflective practice and ongoing continuous improvement.
- Contribute to a professional and positive work culture.
What We’re Looking For
- Relevant experience in commercial kitchen environment, preferably in an early childhood, healthcare, residential or similar environment.
- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (desirable)
- Knowledge and an understanding of Australian Healthy Eating Standards
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
- Basic level of administrative skills and confidence using technology.
- A positive and friendly attitude, with a genuine interest in children’s health and well-being.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and contribute to a positive work environment.
- Hold or be willing to obtain a National Police Check issued within the last 6 months.
- Current Working with Children Check.
