Occupational Therapist

Parramatta, New South Wales 2150, Australia

Description

Role Overview

The Occupational Therapist will support NDSCare participants to increase independence, participation, safety, and functional capacity within daily routines. This role is ideal for a clinician who thrives in community settings, values teamwork, and is passionate about supporting individuals with disability or developmental needs.

The OT will work closely with the CNC, RN team, Physiotherapists, Speech Pathologists, and AHAs under a transdisciplinary model. You do not need extensive community experience to apply — we prioritise the right person, strong values, and a willingness to grow. Training, mentoring, and clinical support are provided.

Key Responsibilities

The OT will:

Complete functional, developmental, sensory, daily-living, and capacity-building assessments.

Deliver evidence-based therapy focused on fine/gross motor skills, sensory regulation, emotional regulation, executive functioning, school readiness, and independence in daily activities.

Develop tailored therapy goals alongside families and the wider MDT.

Produce high-quality clinical documentation including functional reports, assistive technology assessments, progress notes, and NDIS review documentation.

Work collaboratively with nursing, physiotherapy, speech pathology, and education staff to support continuity of care.

Design therapy programs that can be delegated to Allied Health Assistants and provide oversight, training, and ongoing monitoring of AHA-delivered sessions.

Participate in school meetings, clinical reviews, team case conferences, and multidisciplinary planning

  • Being highly experienced is not essential — we take pride in developing the right clinician through structured support and training.

Work Environment & Travel

This is a community-based role that involves travelling between client homes, schools, and community settings. NDSCare pays clinicians their standard hourly rate for travel, generally up to 1 hour per day depending on scheduling and client location. Clinicians also receive $1 per kilometre for use of their personal vehicle, along with reimbursement for tolls and parking fees incurred while attending client appointments (excludes any parking fines).

Administrative support is provided to streamline scheduling, reduce unnecessary travel, and optimise caseload locations.

Remuneration

We offer competitive hourly rates based on experience, aligned with or above HPSS Award levels.

Rates are discussed individually depending on clinical background and availability.

Travel time and mileage are paid separately.
