The National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (NACCHO) is the national leadership body for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health. We support Members and Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOs) across Australia to deliver culturally safe, comprehensive primary health care.

About the role

The Project Officer, Immunisations plays a key role in supporting the rollout of a new national immunisation initiative designed to strengthen workforce capability and reduce vaccine-preventable diseases among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

You will support the coordination and delivery of:

  • a vaccination grants program, and
  • an immunisation education, training and mentoring program designed specifically for the ACCHO Sector.

Working closely with the Immunisation Team, you will help ensure ACCHOs have the resources, workforce capability and culturally safe training required to deliver high‑quality immunisation services. This role will also assist ACCHOs in accessing grant funding, navigating program requirements, and embedding training opportunities that build confidence in delivering immunisations.

This position is ideal for someone who is collaborative, organised and passionate about community‑led health. It requires strong stakeholder engagement, cultural understanding and the ability to coordinate multiple program elements in a fast‑paced, purpose‑driven environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the design, coordination and implementation of NACCHO’s immunisation grants program.
  • Assist in the delivery of immunisation training, mentoring and education tailored to the needs of the ACCHO Sector.
  • Build and maintain strong, culturally respectful relationships with ACCHOs, peak bodies and government partners.
  • Support ACCHOs in accessing grant funding and meeting program reporting or compliance requirements.
  • Contribute to the development of resources, tools and communication materials that strengthen immunisation capability across the Sector.
  • Assist with monitoring, evaluation and continuous improvement activities for the immunisation initiative.

Qualifications, skills and experience

  • Tertiary qualification in health, program management, public health or a related field (highly desirable).
  • Knowledge of immunisation policy, accredited immunisation courses and clinical immunisation resources.
  • Experience developing and implementing community or health promotion projects (highly desirable).
  • Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people or communities.
