Mpower is a well-established, accredited not-for-profit community-based organisation servicing South West Victoria. Established in 1975, the

operation of Mpower has grown from a small voluntary service to an accredited agency employing more than 100 staff, providing a range of clinical and support

services to over 1400 families regionally. Mpower now provides a range of disability services and community services and we specialising in supporting children, young people and families reaching their full potential.

About the Role

As a Support Worker in Residential Care, you will provide day-to-day care and support to children and young people living in residential care settings. This is a hands-on, dynamic role that requires confidence, emotional intelligence, and the ability to respond to complex behaviours, to support them build life skills and promoting a safe and nurturing home environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting young people with daily living tasks and routines
  • Building positive, consistent, and trauma-informed relationships
  • Managing challenging behaviours in line with therapeutic frameworks
  • Supporting education, life skills, and community participation
  • Maintaining accurate case notes and documentation
  • Working across a 24/7 roster (including sleepovers, active night, weekends and public holiday shifts)

Who We’re Looking For

We are seeking applicants who are:

  • Passionate about working with children and young people
  • Confident working in challenging and high-support environments
  • Strong knowledge of trauma‑informed practice especially to young people with disabilities
  • Able to remain calm, consistent, and professional under pressure
  • Strong communicators and team players

Highly regarded:

  • Cert IV Child, Youth & Family Intervention 
  • Experience in residential care, youth work, or OOHC settings
  • Understanding of trauma-informed practice and behaviours of concern

Also considered:

Applicants with qualifications and experience in disability support who are willing to undertake or transition into required qualifications will be considered.
