About Us

We are an Australian-owned, nationally operating company providing specialised end-to-end Building Insurance Repairs.

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join our finance team in Sydney. This permanent, full-time role is pivotal in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end processes, and contributing to reliable financial reporting across the organisation.

Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting & Month-End

  • Assist with month-end journals, including accruals, prepayments, and adjustments
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including bank, debtors, creditors, fixed assets and intercompany accounts
  • Support the preparation of monthly financial reports and management reporting
  • Maintain supporting documentation for audits and internal reviews
  • Support compliance reporting, including BAS, IAS, and payroll tax

Accounts Payable & Receivable

  • Process supplier invoices and credit notes, ensuring correct coding and approvals
  • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies
  • Maintain creditor ageing reports
  • Generate customer invoices and statements
  • Process receipts and allocate payments
  • Monitor overdue accounts and assist with credit control

What we are looking for

  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (completed or in progress)
  • 1–3 years’ experience in a similar accounting or finance role (preferred)
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Intermediate Excel and accounting system skills
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively Progress towards CPA or CA qualification (desirable but not essential)
