About the role

Our Sydney operations are focused on delivering safety critical services to our principal client. We are seeking to engage a network operations manager who will manage and lead a communications engineering team. The primary responsibility is ensuring continuous availability of a GSM-R network spanning the Sydney region and incorporates a multi-vendor core network, an expansive cellular access network and a range of applications and tools.

You will usually work in the Rail Operations Centre in addition to our office in North Sydney. The role will permit a degree of hybrid working but balanced towards influencing the delivery of operationally critical services where it matters most. You will act as the interface between engineering teams and contract personnel from vendors, field engineering and suppliers in the delivery of efficient fault resolution and service improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership and management of Network Operations Centre (NOC) engineers
  • Monitoring and resolving faults within SLAs to meet KPIs
  • Provide insights to service delivery performance
  • Scheduling of NOC shifts and training
  • Incident management and escalation to SME/Vendor support teams
  • Weekly and monthly reporting of KPI data and network statistics
  • Utilise network monitoring tools to analyse potential fault conditions
  • Play a critical role in preparing the team for enduring technology upgrades

About you

You have an operational mindset, grounded in practical experience with a curious approach to new technologies and opportunities.

Your skills and experience will demonstrate:

  • Engineering degree or diploma preferred – equivalent vocational quals/experience will be considered.
  • Sustained development and proficiency in managing network operations – cellular experience will be highly regarded
  • Team leadership and management in a NOC or similar role
  • Awareness of safety critical communications systems and environments
  • Ability to work towards your own goals based on contracted requirements/SLAs/KPIs
  • Customer service and continuous service improvement
  • Excellent Stakeholder management experience
  • Contract management awareness
