Meyer Food Co – Who we are
When people hear the name Meyer Food Co, most haven’t heard of us, and that’s fine.
We’re not a brand in the spotlight, but we’re behind some of the biggest names in Australia. Our products are used by major retailers, clubs, pubs, national fast-food chains, aged care providers and hospitals across the country.
We specialise in value-added food. Using a unique cooking (Sous Vide) and packaging process, we take raw ingredients and turn them into slow-cooked, nutritious, great-tasting meals. Last year alone, we produced enough meat to feed every person in Australia three times over. Chances are, you’ve eaten our products plenty of times without even realising.
What we need
We’re growing, new customers, increasing volume, and expanding into a purpose-built facility. With that comes more complexity in how we operate, how we deliver, and how we maintain consistency at scale.
Quality plays a central role in that.
Not as a checkpoint at the end, but as a function that shapes how the business performs day-to-day, influencing outcomes on the floor, strengthening customer confidence, and supporting the decisions that allow us to grow sustainably.
The relationship between Operations and Quality here is strong, and it needs to be. The impact of this role is visible across the business, with regular exposure to senior leadership and the Managing Director.
What this role will do
You’ll work closely with production to ensure quality is embedded into how work gets done, supporting delivery of the production plan safely, efficiently and to standard.
As the business grows, the focus is on maintaining strong foundations while continuing to strengthen systems, processes and behaviours that support consistency and reduce rework or disruption.
You’ll also support how we engage with customers on quality and food safety, ensuring expectations are met and confidence in our product remains high.
Alongside this, there is an opportunity to continue improving how our systems operate making sure they are practical, fit for purpose, and aligned to the way the business runs.
How you’ll contribute
While the impact of this role is meaningful, how you get there matters. There are a number of areas you will own and contribute across:
- Maintaining and continuously improving the Quality Management System to ensure compliance and support operational performance
- Working with production to oversee product quality and ensure standards are consistently achieved across all runs
- Liaising with customers to ensure food safety and quality expectations are met and maintained
- Participating in production and cross-functional meetings to ensure alignment between quality and operational priorities
- Reviewing products, processes and systems to identify practical improvement opportunities
- Partnering with NPD to ensure food safety and quality requirements are met for product changes and launches, with systems updated where required
- Ensuring validations, audits and compliance activities are completed in line with standards and customer requirements
What is needed to be successful
Like any leadership role, the ability to prioritise effectively, make sound decisions and lead a close-knit team is important. This is a hands-on environment, so being able to balance day-to-day operational needs with ongoing improvement is key.
We’re looking for someone with a strong foundation in food safety and quality within a high-volume FMCG environment, ideally within the meat industry. Experience with import/export requirements would be highly regarded given the direction of the business. Equally important is your ability to work closely with Operations, build trust across the site, and apply your knowledge in a practical way that supports how the business runs.
The opportunity
Meyer Food Co is growing, with new customers, increasing volume and an evolving operation, there’s a real opportunity to shape how quality supports the business as we scale.
It’s a place where your voice is heard, your ideas are taken seriously, and you’re trusted to make an impact. There’s also the chance to build something here, to leave a mark on how we operate, while being challenged to grow and develop in the role yourself.
