About the role

Join a dynamic national Disputes & Insolvency team where you’ll support a broad mix of private and public sector clients on commercial disputes, taxation disputes and insolvency matters.

This role is ideal for an early career Solicitor who wants hands on experience, genuine mentorship, and exposure to complex matters early on. You’ll work closely with Principals and senior lawyers who will actively support your development – including your advocacy skills, technical capabilities and confidence in managing your own matters.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in the management of a diverse portfolio of disputes and insolvency matters
  • Undertaking legal research.
  • Briefing Counsel.
  • Preparing court documents.
  • Communicating with clients and other solicitors.
  • Contributing to strategy development on matters.
  • Attending and appearing at court, mediations and client meetings with increasing autonomy as your confidence grows.

About the team

The Disputes & Insolvency team is one of MCW’s largest national practice groups. You will work alongside experienced Principals and supportive colleagues who value collaboration, knowledge sharing and a considered approach to delivering high quality legal services.

With a strong national presence and a well established reputation, the team offers a structured environment for junior lawyers to develop their skills and gain exposure to complex, high quality matters.

About you

We’re looking for someone who brings curiosity, initiative, and a desire to keep developing. The ideal candidate will have:

  • 1–2 years’ post admission experience.
  • Previous experience in commercial disputes and/or insolvency (or strong interest with some exposure).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with enthusiasm for court work and advocacy.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high quality work.
  • Sound problem solving skills and the ability to pick up new concepts quickly.
  • Strong time management and the ability to juggle multiple deadlines.
  • A proactive approach to learning, growth, and participating in business development.
