an industry owned, industry led not for profit organisation addressing skills
and workforce issues for the manufacturing sector.
Operated by Manufacturing Alliance, the Manufacturing Jobs and Skills
Council acts as an industry voice, promoting the industry’s vital role at the
centre of the Australian economy with a focus on workforce needs and skills
development and building partnerships between industry and the vocational
education and training sector.

Your new role
The Program Management Office (PMO) Lead
reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and plays an
organisation-wide leadership role in enterprise‑level
governance and portfolio oversight, implementing frameworks, controls and
assurance mechanisms to strengthen risk management, performance and continuous
improvement.
This role will build relationships and influence stakeholders to enable
distilling complex information into clear, actionable insights to support
effective executive decision‑making. Operating in a dynamic environment
with competing priorities, the role will be active in problem‑solving and
sound financial analysis to help shape portfolio, program, and project
governance and delivery approaches as needed to support Manufacturing
Alliance’s strategic direction.
Your key
responsibilities
In this role, you will:

Lead
the Program Management Office
– Define and maintain the organisation’s Project Management and Reporting
Framework, including performance measures, operating model, executive
reporting, and tools to support effective portfolio oversight and informed
investment decisions.

Drive
portfolio performance, delivery and insight – Provide strategic oversight of the Manufacturing
Alliance’s project portfolio through enterprise-level performance and financial
reporting, ensuring projects are on time, within budget, strategically aligned,
and supported by robust risk, issue, audit, and assurance practices.
●
Deliver
executive and external stakeholder reporting and governance – Develop and standardise reporting frameworks
that clearly communicate project progress, risk outcomes, and delivery status
to support informed decision-making across governance forums, while providing
high-quality executive briefings to the CEO, COO, and Executive Group that
ensure projects remain aligned with approved business cases, briefs, and
delivery plans.

Facilitate
capability uplift – Lead
the capability uplift in portfolio, program, and project management, monitoring
and reporting by designing and delivering workshops / presentations / sessions
across the organisation.

Manage
interpersonal and external stakeholder relationships – Build and maintain strong, collaborative
relationships across the organisation and with diverse external stakeholders to
understand priorities, address challenges and identify opportunities to improve
systems and processes.
Your skills and attributes
To be successful, you will need to demonstrate:
● Proven leadership experience (at least
3 years) within a centralised, formalised and impactful PMO environment.
● Experience working with Executive
Management within a portfolio, program and/or project environment.
● Ability to operate effectively in
environments with evolving direction, being able to manage multiple competing
priorities while maintaining quality outcomes and bringing structure that
enables confident decision-making.
● Ability to confidently build
relationships and influence senior stakeholders using evidence-based data and
judgement to collaborate, negotiate and influence across diverse groups.
● Ability to monitor emerging issues,
identify their impact on priorities and respond by leveraging evidence-based
data and consideration of broader context.
● Strong analytical and financial
management skills, able to interpret and report on project and budget
performance.
● High-level written and verbal
communication skills, with the capability to bring clarity to complex
information.
● Proficient in Project and Portfolio
Management (PPM) tools (e.g. Microsoft Planner, Monday.com), and reporting,
data analysis, and visualisation tools (e.g. Power BI) to effectively
communicate portfolio performance and trends.
Qualifications
and Experience
● Formal qualifications in business,
economics, data analytics, or project/portfolio management are beneficial.
● Certification in project management
methodologies (preferably with Agile, PMP, MSP, PRINCE2, PMBOK, or a similar
certification).
● Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite,
SharePoint, Co-Pilot, and/or similar tools.
● Experience related to the Manufacturing
industry is desirable, but not essential.
