MILLING MACHINE OPERATOR

Day shift

Position Summary

This position is primarily responsible for operating Milling machines in a manufacturing environment; maintaining quality and safety standards;

General Functions and Tasks

• Rubber Mixing (Mill Operation) – Operate a Two-roll mill to mix and blend polymers (rubber)

• Adjust space between rollers to regulate thickness of rubber using wrenches

• Cut and blend rubber during milling process using a cutting knife

• Cut rubber sheets from Mill using a cutting knife and weight Rubber-preps as needed

• Extrusion operation – Prepare moulding preforms through an extruder equipment

• Setup Dies/moulds on extruder machine for prescribed shapes using wrenches

• Load Rubber and operates extruder machine

• Attention to detail

• Cut samples of product for laboratory tests using a knife or Scissors

• Clean equipment (mill, trays, rollers, guide, and extruder barrel) removing remainder rubber and raw materials, keep work area clean & organised

• Inspect machinery for lubrication and to detect mechanical malfunction

• Organize raw materials on storing racks

• Complete jobs according to job card specifications

• Other responsibilities as assigned by management.

Skills & Attributes

• Basic computer skills, Microsoft office

• Ability to work from instructions and stand operating procedures

• Ability to work individually, as part of a team, and under general supervision

• Basic communication skills

• Forklift licence is highly recommended

• Work within safety guidelines

• Previous experience in a similar environment would be highly regarded but not necessary as training will be provided.

• The ability to lift up to 20kg

Eligibility

• Applicant must be willing to undergo a National Police Clearance

• Applicants must be willing to undergo a Medical

• Applicants may be required to be eligible to obtain a Baseline security clearance, sponsored by Mackay.
