The Role Day-to-Day
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and prototyping mechanical equipment, systems and components for military applications, including land vehicles and C4I systems. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will work closely with other engineers and project managers to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. General responsibilities will include:
- Design and develop mechanical systems and components, including prototypes and production-ready designs, using extensive experience in the defence industry
- Conduct research and analysis to identify new technologies and materials that can be used to improve mechanical systems
- Collaborate with other engineers and project managers to develop project plans and timelines
- Conduct testing and analysis to ensure that mechanical systems meet performance and safety standards
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and other team members
- Prepare and present reports, proposals, and other documentation to clients and stakeholders
- Manage project budgets and timelines to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.

What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, eligible for membership of Engineers Australia
- At least 7 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on design and development in land vehicles and/or C4I systems
- Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, including finite element analysis, mechanics, and materials and manufacturing
- Experience with CAD software and other design tools (ideally SolidWorks)
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A current or previously held Australian security clearance (Baseline or above)
- Ability to work with ITAR and export controlled technologies
