The Role Day-to-Day

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and prototyping power, data, RF, and other cables, electrical equipment, and electronic systems for military applications, including land vehicles and C4I systems. The Senior Electrical Engineer will work closely with other engineers and project managers to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. General responsibilities will include:

  • Design and develop cables, electrical equipment, electronics, and integration components, including prototypes and production-ready designs, using extensive experience in the defence industry
  • Conduct research and analysis to identify new and innovative solutions to electrical power, C4I, and other related challenges including electromagnetic environmental effects
  • Collaborate with other engineers and project managers to develop project plans and timelines
  • Conduct testing and analysis to ensure that electrical and C4I systems meet performance and safety standards
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and other team members
  • Prepare and present reports, proposals, and other documentation to clients and stakeholders
  • Manage project budgets and timelines to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering or a related field, eligible for membership of Engineers Australia
  • At least 7 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on design and development in land vehicles and/or C4I systems preferred
  • Strong knowledge of engineering principles, design, and product development lifecycle
  • Experience with circuit design or CAD software and other design tools (Visio, SolidWorks, Zuken or similar)
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A current or previously held Australian security clearance (Baseline or above)
  • Ability to work with ITAR and export controlled technologies
