Description

Business Analyst — Energy Company (Sunshine Coast)

Why this role matters

What you’ll work on

  • Data & Insight: Take end-to-end ownership of the data pipeline for all data that are captured in models and systems, including sites/meters (NMI), usage, tariffs and invoices; aim to automate the compilation of databases, build dashboards and models that surface portfolio health, exceptions and trends.
  • Variance analysis: Dig into variance analysis, including loss factors, demand charges, network tariffs, meter reads and TOU blocks; recommend corrections that actually move the numbers.
  • Process improvement: Develop tools including reporting suites that enable self help and timely reporting with a focus to improve accurate forecasting and budgeting
  • Commercial support: Collaborate with the Operations and Finance to solve client issues, reduce cost, and lift revenue for long-term profitability.

What you’ll bring

  • Strong SQL and Excel (including Power Query/pivots) and proven experience in Power BI or Tableau.
  • Comfort with the Australian energy market measures: NMI, MSATS/CATS, B2B transactions, network tariffs, loss factors and TOU.
  • Process skills: BPMN/Lean mapping, writing BRDs/user stories, acceptance testing and UAT coordination.
  • Communicates clearly, thinks critically, and loves solving tough, ambiguous problems.
  • You must hold valid working rights in Australia at the time of application.
