Disability Support Worker

Participant is a Consultant who has worked in the education and disability sectors for the past 35 years. Support is required to enable the Participant to continue to work with assistance to maintain the home and family life. The Participant will do most tasks with you when they are well.

Support Worker will be required to provide in home support regarding meal preparation, laundry – washing/ drying/ folding/ putting away, making beds, keeping floor hazard free, vacuuming, loading and emptying dishwasher, assistance with dogs, daily charge of bath lift, cleaning out fridge/ pantry, assistance with medication distribution to dosage containers, collection of medication, grocery shopping, collecting teenager son from school and supporting teenager to complete their home/ school responsibilities. Occasionally, support may be required to go to shopping centres for specific purposes with the Participant or to attend medical appointments.

Participant has a chronic pain condition that requires minimal noise and assistance with any task that requires bending over, putting items in the oven (avoid rush of heat), putting items in the fridge/ freezer (avoiding blasts of cold air). Participant has serious medical conditions including a heart condition. Mobility can vary throughout the day but more greatly affected later in the day and evenings. Participant has severe anaphylaxis stress resulting from a number of allergies.

Support is required Tuesdays to Fridays, 12:30pm – 4:30pm with occasional requests to extend to 10pm. Monday support may be added in the future. Some travel regionally, interstate and internationally may be required so worker needs to be able to travel with Participant. Some travel may involve the Participant’s family.
