Cooley’s Hotel is looking for a hands-on, people focused leader to take ownership of our venue, our team, and the guest experience.

We are looking for a Venue Manager, or a strong and experienced Duty Manager ready for the next step, who genuinely enjoys leading people, building team culture, and being part of a local venue that matters to its community.

Because Cooley’s is a smaller venue, personal fit is everything. We need someone who will embrace the opportunity to be visible, involved and connected. Someone who leads from the front, takes pride in developing others, and brings the right balance of operational discipline and warmth.

This role will suit a hospitality leader who wants to grow, have a voice, and work closely with HR and the leadership team as part of a developing training and coaching pathway.

What you will do

  • Lead, coach and support your team to deliver a high quality guest experience every day
  • Take ownership of people leadership across the venue, including team development, performance conversations, onboarding and creating a positive culture
  • Run the day-to-day operations of the venue across all areas with confidence and accountability
  • Maintain strong operational standards across service, presentation, stock control, safety and compliance
  • Manage rosters, labor, costs and venue performance in a way that supports both the team and the business
  • Build strong local relationships and strengthen the venue’s connection to its community
  • Identify opportunities to improve the way the venue operates and contribute ideas that support growth
  • Work closely with the wider leadership team to align the venue with company values, standards and business goals.
  • Be a visible and hands on leader, particularly across weekends and evenings when the venue is at its busiest

What you will bring

  • Proven hospitality leadership experience, ideally as a Venue Manager or a senior Duty Manager ready to step up
  • Strong people management capability with a genuine interest in mentoring, coaching and developing others      
  • Solid operational experience and the ability to confidently manage a venue day to day
  • A leadership style that reflects our values of Community, Growth, Honesty and Respect
  • A natural ability to build relationships with team members, guests and the local community
  • The confidence to take ownership, make sound decisions and lead from the front
  • Energy, warmth and professionalism, with the personal fit to lead a smaller community-based venue
  • A willingness to work weekends and evenings as part of the role
