About the Role

We’re seeking a detail-driven Payroll Officer to join our Finance team on a permanent part-time basis (2 days per week). Based at our Mooroolbark headquarters, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring our people are paid accurately and on time, every time.

This is more than just processing numbers. You’ll be a trusted partner to employees across the business, delivering exceptional payroll service and contributing to a positive workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process fortnightly payroll for employees across all associated businesses
  • Calculate and verify hours worked, overtime, deductions, and other payroll components
  • Ensure compliance with Australian taxation laws, superannuation regulations, Fair Work legislation, and relevant awards
  • Maintain accurate payroll records including timesheets, leave balances, and related documentation
  • Generate payroll reports and perform regular reconciliations
  • Respond to employee payroll enquiries in a timely and professional manner
  • Liaise with HR to ensure accurate implementation of benefits, deductions, and policy changes
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and assist with system enhancements

About You

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:

  • Employment Hero experience – essential
  • Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in a payroll position
  • Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation, tax, superannuation, and Fair Work requirements
  • Experience with end-to-end payroll processes including pays, end of month, and EOFY
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll software systems
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong communication skills with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
  • Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred)
