The Role:

We are looking for an energetic and passionate Pastry & Dessert Chef to join our kitchen team within Doot Doot Doot. Set within a progressive, contemporary restaurant, this role would suit someone with a genuine passion to create food that is delicious and exciting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in pastry and dessert preparation, bringing creativity and innovation to our menu.

This permanent, full-time role is essential to delivering exceptional culinary experiences in the hotel restaurant, ensuring that our offerings not only meet but exceed our guests’ expectations.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and prepare a variety of pastries, desserts, and baked goods to a high standard.
  • Develop new recipes and menu items, incorporating seasonal ingredients and current trends.
  • Ensure all food safety and hygiene standards are maintained in the kitchen.
  • Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth service and timely delivery of dishes.
  • Manage inventory and order supplies as needed to maintain stock levels.
  • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff in pastry techniques and best practices.
  • Monitor and control food costs to ensure profitability.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work environment.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Pastry Chef within a 5-star hotel or similar establishment desirable
  • Strong knowledge of pastry techniques and dessert presentation.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
  • Excellent attention to detail and creativity in dessert design.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills – ability to work closely with other sections as a positive team member.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
  • Full working rights in Australia
