About the Role
As a Student Wellbeing Officer, you’ll play a meaningful role in supporting children who may need extra emotional or behavioural support to feel safe, included and ready to learn. Working closely with the school community, you’ll help create inclusive practices that support children across a range of settings and experiences within the school.
This role is all about nurturing wellbeing – for students, families and the wider school community. Your work will be shaped by the unique needs of the children attending the school and guided by the school principal, in partnership with educators and support staff.
You’ll be someone who can respond with care and understanding to day-to-day wellbeing needs, communicate warmly with people from diverse backgrounds, and build trusting relationships with children and families.
In this role, you will:
- Create a welcoming, safe and supportive environment where children and young people feel valued
- Promote the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people in your care
- Ensure all interactions with children and young people are positive, respectful and safe
- Follow appropriate processes to report any concerns, suspicions or disclosures related to child safety
- Support Jabiru by maintaining current Working with Children documentation
- Advise management of any matters that may impact child safety during your engagement

With multiple opportunities available across the Brisbane and Gold Coast region, this role offers a meaningful way to make an impact while enjoying flexibility. Positions are offered on a term-time basis, two days per week, with the opportunity to work across multiple schools, supporting diverse communities and broadening your experience.
You will demonstrate:
Care & Inclusion – A strong commitment to supporting the social, emotional and behavioural wellbeing of children and young people, particularly those needing additional support
Safety & Trust – A clear understanding of child safety responsibilities and the confidence to act appropriately when concerns arise, always prioritising the wellbeing of children
Respectful Relationships – The ability to build positive, trusting connections with children, families, educators and colleagues from diverse backgrounds
Collaboration – A team-focused approach and willingness to work alongside school leaders and support staff to meet the needs of students
Professional Integrity – The ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and work within school policies, procedures and Education Queensland frameworks
To support you in this role, you will also have:
- A minimum Certificate IV in Youth Work, Human Services, or an equivalent or higher qualification, including relevant experience
- A Paid Blue Card, or the ability to obtain one
- The ability to pass a National Police Check
- First Aid and CPR certification, or a willingness to obtain
