 Position Purpose:  

  • ​​To provide Recover at Work and Rehabilitation services for claimants, workers and employers within various insurance schemes, including SIRA Workers Compensation, CTP and Comcare. The Senior Rehabilitation Consultant’s primary purpose will be to facilitate a successful recover at/return to work with the same and/or a new employer for a worker that has been injured and/or claimant that has suffered injuries resulting from a motor vehicle accident. The Senior Rehabilitation Consultant will provide and recommend appropriate assessments and pathways to facilitate recovery. ​ 

 

Essential Criteria: 

  • ​​Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy or Exercise Physiology. 
  • ​Full registration with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) or ESSA (Exercise and Sports Science Australia – with SIRA Approval for Workplace Assessments and Functional Capacity Evaluations). 
  • ​2 years minimum experience working as a Rehabilitation Consultant and providing Workplace Rehabilitation Services in a workers insurance scheme. 
  • ​Current driver’s licence and vehicle. 
  • ​Hold a valid Working with Children’s Check.​ 

 

Desirable Criteria: 

  • ​​Understanding and knowledge of NSW Workers Compensation. 
  • ​Experience working as a Rehabilitation Consultant, facilitating return to work outcomes while managing complex claims.  
  • ​Demonstrated ability to provide Rehabilitation Service Delivery with high standards, operating with autonomy and independence.  
  • ​Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to build rapport and maintain strong relationships. 
  • ​Ability to work with all stakeholders and fellow employees in a pleasant, professional and helpful manner. 
  • ​Understanding of and commitment to WHS & EEO.​ 

 

Position Responsibilities: 

  • ​​Perform Workplace Assessments with the worker and employer to gather background injury information, relevant medical information and conduct a task analysis to assess pre-injury duties and identify suitable duties.  
  • ​Perform RTW & Recovery Assessments with claimants to determine pre and post-accident capacity and employment details/status, providing recommendations for ongoing workplace rehabilitation. 
  • ​Arrange and participate in Medical Case Conferencing with the Nominated Treating Doctor to confirm diagnosis, prognosis, functional capacity, required treatment and referrals.  ​ 
  • ​Utilise the above information (Workplace Assessment and Medical Case Conference) to develop a comprehensive Recover at/Return to Work Plan that outlines current suitable duties and anticipated upgrades in capacity and duties through to pre-injury duties.  
  • ​Identify and apply for various SIRA Vocational Programs available to assist workers/claimants and employers with the provision and participation in suitable employment.   
  • ​Conduct Functional Capacity Evaluations and Pre-Employment Functional Assessments, to objectively determine a worker’s/claimant’s current functional capacity and assess against identified work demands. 
  • ​Conduct Workstation Ergonomic Assessments to evaluate the work environment, tasks, and equipment to identify potential hazards, recommending solutions for a safer and more productive workspace.    
  • ​Ensure that barriers to participating in suitable duties for the worker are actively  identified ongoing, with strategies and actions developed and implemented to overcome barriers. 
  • ​Communicate with all stakeholders on a regular basis to ensure that the progress of the case is known at all times with clear direction and goals known and agreed by all parties.  
  • ​The provision of high quality, succinct and accurate reports for the services/duties outlined above.​

Conditions of Employment 

  • ​​Maintaining AHPRA registrations with no conditions on registration.​  
  • ​​For Exercise Physiologists, maintaining ESSA accreditation with no conditions on registration. ​  

 

Administrative: 

  • Use IT/case management systems effectively to maintain records, progress notes and documentation of cases, case reviews and data reporting requirements.  
  • Understand and meet legislative and funding requirements including collecting and recording statistical data, and do so in a timely and accurate manner. 
  • Ensure customer satisfaction through all stages of the case while working with all stakeholders.  
  • Maintain clear records and documentation for services provided. 
  • Maintain a standard of quality in line with IOH Process and Quality Assurance.  
  • Adhere to IOH Billing guidelines and maintain funding requirements for cases.  

 

Other Duties: 

  • Adhere to all organisational policies, procedures, standards and practices. 
  • Act only in ways that advances IOH objectives, values and reputation.  
  • Perform other duties, consistent with skills and experience, as directed by the Reporting Manager. 
  • Contribute to operational planning as requested by Reporting Manager. 
  • Discuss work & organisational problems with management.  
  • Engage in performance reviews and implement corrective action resulting from each review. 
  • Complete other duties that may be reasonably required. 
  • Attend staff meetings. 
  • Be available for and engage in training where needs are identified. 

 

Work Health and Safety (WHS):
