About the Role

Our Audio-Visual team design, install, commission and support professional audiovisual systems, often working in secure and operational environments alongside critical data communications.

We are looking to recruit a proactive and experienced Audio-Visual Commissioner / Programmer to join our Canberra team. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys bringing systems to life – working alongside installers, engineers and project teams to commission, program, test and fine-tune professional AV systems.

You will be involved from late stage build through to handover, ensuring systems are stable, well-documented and intuitive for end users to operate.

Key Responsibilities

Commissioning

  • Bring commercial AV systems to life – commissioning, testing and validating them from installation through to client handover.
  • Check and fine-tune signal flow, device configuration, DSP and control integration to ensure everything works seamlessly together.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues during commissioning and early-life support with a practical, solutions-focused approach.
  • Configure and work with leading platforms such as Crestron, Extron, Biamp, QSC (or similar).
  • Set up and validate AV networking where required, including IP settings, basic switching and endpoint connectivity.

Programming

  • Program and configure AV control systems (primarily Crestron and Extron), turning design concepts into intuitive, reliable user experiences.
  • Build, refine and deploy control logic that aligns with the original design intent while adapting to real-world site conditions.
  • Configure and integrate key AV components – codecs, switchers, matrices, cameras, DSPs, microphones, amplifiers and displays so they operate seamlessly as one system.
  • Support integration with Unified Communications environments (such as Teams, ensuring meeting spaces are simple and dependable to use.
  • Carry out structured system testing, optimisation and defect resolution to deliver a polished result before handover.
  • Contribute to commissioning documentation, test results, as-built records and user guides that make ongoing support straightforward.
  • Assist with UAT, client demonstrations and training, helping end users feel confident and supported from day one.

Skills/Experience

  • 3+ years’ experience in AV commissioning, programming, integration or a closely related role.
  • Strong understanding of AV signal flow, control systems and troubleshooting methodology.
  • Good working knowledge of AV protocols/standards such as HDMI, and audio/networked audio such as Dante / AES67 / AVB.
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals relevant to AV systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, system diagrams, cable schedules and technical drawings.
  • Certifications – AVIXA CTS (CTS‑I / CTS‑D) and vendor certifications from Crestron, Extron, QSC, Biamp, AMX or similar (desirable).
  • Competent with Microsoft Office 365; exposure to Bluebeam and/or AutoCAD (desirable).
  • Australian Citizen with or with the ability gain an NV1 security clearance.
  • General Induction – White Card, Asbestos Awareness, Asbestos Containment, Silica Awareness.
