About the Opportunity 

We are currently looking for permanent (part time or full time), dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Support Practitioners to join our dynamic team based at our Norwest office working in various locations throughout the Sydney, Wollongong, and Campbelltown regions. In this rewarding role, you’ll provide high-quality, person-centred support to individuals with disabilities, working alongside a supportive team and engaging closely with participants and key stakeholders. Reporting to the Practice Manager and a Supervising Clinician, will allow you to grow your knowledge and experience across a wide range of participant needs, from children to adults. By building strong relationships with participants and understanding their support network and goals, you will play a key role in creating and implementing evidence-based behaviour support plans and conducting functional behaviour assessments to drive the best possible outcomes. In addition to our comprehensive training and induction program, you’ll be supported by a collaborative team, ensuring you have the resources and guidance to allow you to succeed. You will benefit from ongoing supervision and learning opportunities that will continue throughout your career at Interaction. 

 

We are seeking proactive team members who are confident in taking ownership of client work and associated responsibilities. Experience and registration as a Behaviour Support Practitioner, along with a strong understanding of NDIS Quality & Safeguard Practice standards, is essential. 

 

About You 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to understand the underlying causes of challenging behaviours. 

  • Design and implement evidence-based behaviour support plans to reduce challenging behaviours and promote positive outcomes. 

  • Provide training and support to families, carers, and staff on implementing behaviour support strategies. 

  • Ensure that all interventions and practices comply with policy, procedures and NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission regulations. 

  • Develop support strategies that reflect the individual’s goals, preferences, and values, ensuring they have an active role in their own behaviour support planning. 

  • Work alongside other therapists, carers, families, and other health professionals to ensure integrated, holistic support for participants. 

  • To keep clinical notes up-to-date in a timely manner and adhering to the defensible documentation framework; 

  • Work collaboratively within the Behaviour and Allied Health team. 

 

Candidate Requirements 

  • Experience supporting individuals living with disabilities. 

  • Understanding and commitment to providing ethical, high-quality, person-centred service. 

  • Resilience in managing challenging behaviours. 

  • Commitment and ability to work with a range of people, their families/stakeholders, with complex needs, to achieve meaningful outcomes. 

  • Strong teamwork and independent work capabilities. 

  • Computer literacy in MS Outlook, Word, Excel and other current applications. 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

  • NDIS Behaviour Support Practitioner registration number and suitability confirmation. 

  • Valid driver’s license. 

  • A comprehensively insured and registered vehicle. 

  • Current Working with Children Check. 

  • Valid NDIS Worker Screening Check or willingness to obtain one.
