The Role

In your role as a Technical Sales Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in promoting and selling Ingenuity’s advanced product design and engineering services. You will be a proactive driver of new business, passionately identifying, pursuing, and converting top-of-funnel opportunities into qualified projects. Your primary responsibilities will include generating and nurturing new leads, acquiring clients, and securing projects to develop innovative products from concept through to production.

A critical aspect of your role will be understanding and interpreting customer needs, allowing you to provide accurate project estimates and detailed technical requirements in well-crafted proposals. You will be an energetic lead chaser who is confident in initiating conversations, opening doors, and building early-stage relationships that evolve into long-term partnerships. Your efforts will have a direct impact on Ingenuity’s brand and market positioning. As a key team member, you will collaborate with subject matter experts, sharing insights and aligning opportunities with technical capability to drive commercial success.

Key Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities are:

  • Proactively identify, pursue, and cultivate new business leads, with a strong focus on top-of-funnel activity and opportunity creation.
  • Leverage your expertise in design and manufacturing to engage prospects and uncover high-value product development opportunities.
  • Meet with prospective clients to showcase and advocate for Ingenuity’s technical design services and unique value proposition.
  • Qualify, develop, negotiate, and close sales deals, ensuring alignment with company revenue goals.
  • Prepare detailed sales proposals that include clear technical requirements and accurate project estimates.
  • Implement sales and marketing strategies through targeted outreach, content creation, and management of marketing channels.
  • Build and maintain strong industry and customer relationships to create a continuous pipeline of opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Ingenuity’s subject matter experts to explore, shape, and advance sales opportunities.
  • Provide regular updates on sales progress and deliver comprehensive monthly sales reports.

Skill and Experience

The following skills and experience are required for this role:

  • Be an Australian citizen, permanent resident or hold a working visa.
  • Hold a relevant engineering degree or equivalent from a reputable University (e.g. Bachelor of Electrical Engineering)
  • Have worked in support of electronic product design or in a similar role for 3 or more years
  • Have exposure to hardware and software-based technology, with a strong understanding of electronics design processes
  • Have experience in the technology, manufacturing, or consultancy services industries
  • Demonstrated success in B2B sales, particularly in generating and converting new leads
  • A passion for business development, with confidence in initiating outreach and building relationships from first contact
  • Ability to understand and execute marketing strategy
  • Strong organisational, critical, and analytical thinking skills
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills, with strong presentation abilities
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment

Location

Our Sydney office is located in the North Ryde technology area with convenient access by road and public transport.

We provide workplace flexibility by allowing staff to work from home for part of the week.
