About the Role

Industry Skills Australia (ISA) is seeking a visionary Head of People and Culture to partner with our CEO and Executive team. As we navigate a significant period of organisational design and workforce planning, you will be the architect of a high-performing, compliant and capable workforce that meets both organisational objectives and public sector expectations.

This is a standalone leadership position. You will balance high-level strategic advisory with the practical management of the full employee lifecycle and our HR systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Advisory: Provide expert HR advice to the CEO and Executive Leadership Team on workforce and organisational matters.
  • Strategy & Design: Develop and execute the People & Culture strategy, leading workforce planning and organisational design initiatives.
  • Culture & Engagement: Drive initiatives that promote integrity, collaboration, and leadership capability across the organisation.
  • Governance & Compliance: Ensure all HR policies and practices comply with Australian employment legislation and government governance expectations.
  • Operations & Systems: Act as the System Administrator for our HRIS (Employment Hero) and oversee the end-to-end employee lifecycle.

About You

You are an experienced HR professional who thrives in “greenfield” or standalone environments. You possess a strong commercial lens, exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to use data for evidence-based decision-making.

Your background includes:

  • 10+ years of HR experience, including significant time in senior leadership roles.
  • Proven experience delivering people strategies and leading organisational change.
  • Expert knowledge of Australian employment legislation and managing complex employee relations.
  • Experience in workforce planning and establishing HR frameworks from the ground up.
  • Tertiary qualifications in HR or Business; postgraduate degrees or AHRI membership are highly regarded.
  • Prior experience in government, NFP, or regulated sectors is an advantage.
