As a T120+ Community Youth Support Worker, you will provide intensive, strengths-based, culturally informed support through Karlup’s Target 120+ program. With low caseloads, you’ll have the time and space to build strong relationships, support young people to navigate complex challenges, re-engage with education and build safer, more positive futures.
Working collaboratively across the consortium, you will deliver trauma-informed, personalised case management, partnering with families, community and key stakeholders to promote pro-social behaviour and lasting change.

Key Objectives:
The INROADS program was developed in the Perth Children’s Court in early 2023, to provide an alternative, therapeutic option for young people who would otherwise be facing a term of immediate detention in Banksia Hill Detention Centre (BHDC).
The purpose of this role is to deliver collaborative, early intervention services as part of Karlup’s Target 120 + Model.
The position aims to provide comprehensive and collaborative support to high- risk young people and their families who are experiencing complex challenges. The position, as a T120+ Community Youth Support Worker, provides intensive, strengths-based support to high-risk young people and their families, with a focus on maintaining low caseloads to allow for personalised engagement,
Supporting young people through the In Roads court process, the role focuses on achieving collaborative case management goals that promote positive reintegration into education, consistent engagement in suitable schooling, and participation in diversionary recreational activities.
Additionally, the role supports the development of independent living skills, fosters positive social and community connections, assists with navigating government services, facilitates appropriate housing access, and promotes pro-social behaviour changes to prevent further legal system involvement. Through this integrated approach, the position plays a key role in supporting young people and their families to build a foundation for a more stable, positive future.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide intensive, individualised support to high-risk young people and their families including supporting completion of the INROADS court program.
• Develop, review and implement Individual Support Plans (ISP) and Integrated Family Plans (IFP) in collaboration with young people and their families
• Facilitate re-engagement with education or training and encourage ongoing participation in structured learning environments.
• Support positive engagement in recreational and diversionary activities.
• Strengthen family functioning and home environments through structured in-home support, aligned with IFP goals
• Assist in navigating government and community systems, including housing, health, and welfare and coordinate referrals.
• Promote pro-social behaviour and reduce contact with the justice system through trauma-informed, strengths-based case planning.
• Support young people to develop their personal life and learning goals and scaffold supports to achieve them.
• Participate in after-hours support as required (eg. appointments, transport to activities) and school holiday program delivery.
• Apply brokerage funds, where approved, to support client and family needs in line with ISP/IFP goals.
• Build and maintain transparent, professional relationships with funders and other stakeholders and key partners (Indigo Junction and Kids First)
• Keep accurate, timely case notes and fulfil external stakeholder reporting requirements.
• Ensure service delivery and client information systems for case load are maintained in accordance with Karlup’s requirements and standards.
• Proactively engage in formal supervision, reflective practice sessions and approach all aspects of the role with a commitment to continuous improvement.
• Participate in other projects or portfolios as agreed by with the General Manager.

Selection Criteria
Essential
Qualifications and/or training and/or licences:
• Qualification in Certificate IV Youth Work, Cert IV Child Youth and Family Intervention, Bachelor of Social Work, Bachelor of Psychology or other relevant discipline and or significant experience in the related field.
Experience and knowledge:
• Experience working with young people at risk who are experience trauma and facing personal barriers to learning.
• Commitment to practicing with cultural, humility, respect and safety in the spire of reconciliation.
• Able to apply different practice frameworks to deescalated heightened behaviours and keep clients safely engaged in the program.
• Demonstrated experience engaging young people in the development of tailored case plans.
• Demonstrated experience, expertise, and commitment to supporting young people at risk including extensive knowledge of trauma and complex needs.
• Flexibility, adaptability, and a willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Commitment to embedding the young person’s voice in all aspect of their case plan.
