Job Summary:

As a Disability Support Worker, you will play a vital role in assisting individuals with disabilities to achieve their daily living goals and enhance their quality of life. You will provide personalized support, promote independence, and facilitate community engagement for clients in various settings. This position requires compassion, patience, and a strong commitment to the well-being of individuals with disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

– Provide daily support to individuals with disabilities in personal care, daily living activities, and community participation.

– Assist clients with meal preparation, medication management, and household chores.

– Support clients in achieving personal goals and developing life skills through tailored programs.

– Foster a positive and respectful relationship with clients, their families, and other stakeholders.

– Maintain accurate documentation of services provided and progress towards goals.

– Encourage and assist clients in accessing community resources, recreational activities, and social engagements.

– Ensure the safety and well-being of clients while adhering to organizational policies and procedures.

– Collaborate with healthcare professionals, service providers, and families to develop and implement appropriate care plans.

– Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in disability support.

– Knowledge of disability services and relevant legislation (desirable).

Qualifications:

– Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) or equivalent qualification (preferred).

– Previous experience in a similar role is advantageous but not essential.

– First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).

– A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.

– A National Police Check and Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain).
