Senior Underwriter – Commercial Property

Summary

As Senior Underwriter – Commercial Property you’ll be growing a profitable Commercial Property and Commercial Strata portfolio on our digital platform using your technical underwriting skills.

You will engage with brokers via networking, training and industry events, and generally fulfilling our objective to be our brokers “friendly expert” in the Commercial Property market. 

This market-facing role requires confidence in engaging with brokers, providing underwriting guidance, and representing the agency at industry events, presentations, and conferences.  

The successful candidate will be a self-motivated high-energy person with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and experience in similar roles.

Responsibilities

Product Development 

• Help develop the overall Commercial Property portfolio management & strategy 

• Assist with development and maintenance of underwriting guidelines, manuals, and policy wordings and coverage 

• Drive continuous improvement in underwriting processes and enablement programs 

• Collaborate across specialist functions and portfolio teams to deliver strategic objectives 

Risk Underwriting  

• Underwriting non-automated risks leveraging our platform for slick admin-free turnaround.  

• Be the friendly expert for our broker partners.  

Business Development 

• Grow the portfolio through market engagement, relationship building and strategic initiatives 

• Be market facing with presenting our product and systems to brokers 

• Developing strong relationships with brokers with confidence and a commercial savvy approach 

Management 

• Support and mentor less experienced team members to build capability across the team 

Qualifications & Experience

You have 7 plus years’ experience in Commercial Property or Strata Underwriting. 

Ability to work as part of a team and autonomously. 

Excellent communication skills. 

Track record or delivering results and fostering relationships.
