Do you enjoy working in a fast-paced kitchen environment where your efforts directly contribute to excellent service and happy customers?

We’re looking for an experienced and reliable Café Cook to join our vibrant team at the Sea Spray Café. Located on-site at the Hunter Medical Research Institute (HMRI), the cafe operates Monday to Friday 8am to 3pm. In this hands-on role, you’ll be involved in daily food preparation, event catering, and supporting the smooth operation of the café.

Our rotating specials board features mains, salads, soups, and freshly baked goods. You’ll also assist in preparing pre-made sandwiches and fulfilling made-to-order requests.

This is a great opportunity to join a friendly, community-focused workplace. We’re offering casual or permanent part-time roles with flexible working arrangements to suit your availability.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Prepare food in line with café standards, budget, and customer demand

• Maintain clean and hygienic kitchen and café areas at all times

• Wash dishes, sanitise equipment, and manage rubbish and recycling

• Restock food and supplies, rotate stock, and report low inventory

• Support the team during busy service periods and special events

• Adhere to food safety, hygiene, and WHS procedures

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

• Previous experience as a kitchen hand, catering assistant, or similar role

• A strong work ethic and willingness to support wherever needed

• Food safety and hygiene certification (or willingness to obtain)

• Ability to follow instructions and work well as part of a team
