About Us

HumanAbility is a Jobs and Skills Council for the health, human services, aged care and disability, sport & recreation and early childhood industries.

HumanAbility’s objective is to advance education by supporting skills and workforce development for the above specified industries. It is a values-based organisation, that is not-for-profit, industry-owned and led, that is contracted by the federal government.

HumanAbility will achieve its objectives through:

  • Implementation of the Jobs & Skills Councils – Strengthening Australia’s National Vocational Education and Training System program, or its replacement program, and similar programs supported by governments and/or industry;
  • Workforce planning activities that develop strategies to address workforce challenges, using high-quality data and evidence on current and emerging skills needs (in collaboration with Jobs and Skills Australia) associated with a range of educational pathways, including vocational education and training (VET) and higher education;
  • Formal and informal training product development, including resources aligned with standards set by Skills Ministers to improve the quality, speed-to-market and responsiveness of nationally recognised training products;
  • Contributions to the implementation, promotion and monitoring of VET; andIndustry stewardship to advance education by acting as a source of intelligence on issues affecting relevant industries and national training system opportunities.

The Senior Quality Assurance Advisor is responsible for the integrity and compliance of HumanAbility’s training products and related documents. This full-time, ongoing role (subject to funding, currently through mid-2028) can be based anywhere in Australia and will involve regular travel for meetings, workshops and industry events.

About the Role

The Senior Quality Assurance Advisor ensures the integrity, compliance, and overall quality of HumanAbility’s training products and documentation. Operating with a high level of autonomy, the role provides expert guidance on the Training Package Organising Framework (TPOF) and ensures all outputs meet Jobs and Skills Council (JSC) standards. This position not only oversees quality assurance but also shapes the systems, tools, and processes that underpin effective training product development. As the primary technical mentor to the Quality Assurance Officer and the broader Training Product Development team, the Senior Advisor translates complex regulatory requirements into clear, practical, and high‑quality deliverables.

Key Accountabilities

Quality Assurance

  • Monitor VET sector trends, TPOF updates, and regulatory changes to ensure training products remain compliant and contemporary.
  • Lead internal QA processes to ensure all training products meet required quality standards.
  • Provide expert guidance on interpreting the TPOF and JSC regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures that support the full training product development lifecycle.

Induction & Team Support

  • Design and deliver internal training to build capability in training product development and QA processes.
  • Mentor the Quality Assurance Officer and support the broader team on complex reviews and technical requirements.
  • Promote a collaborative, continuous‑improvement culture where quality is embedded throughout the workflow.

Tools & Systems Management

  • Provide support for DEWR’s Training Product Central (TPC) and ensure tools are fit‑for‑purpose and up to date.
  • Develop and refine systems and processes that improve efficiency and support high‑quality training packages.
  • Configure and manage systems such as SharePoint, monday.com, MS Teams, MS Dynamics, and Microsoft Excel to support team operations.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of QA activities, findings, and corrective actions.
  • Prepare regular reports for the Quality Assurance Manager on QA progress, compliance issues, and key metrics.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to enhance QA processes and recommend improvements.
  • Stay current with best practice and emerging trends in quality assurance and training package development.

Other Responsibilities

  • Follow all work health, safety, and wellbeing policies and guidelines.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (in Education, Quality Management or instructional design) or equivalent experience
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
  • Strong background in VET, including experience in quality assurance and developing training and assessment materials.
  • Working knowledge of TPOF, AQF and related frameworks (highly regarded).
  • Experience with JSCs/SSOs and systems such as TPC, SharePoint, MS Teams and MS Office (highly regarded).
  • Confident using digital collaboration, CRM and project management tools.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality.
  • High-level writing skills with a strong grasp of grammar and the formal construction of standards.
  • Critical thinking and analytical skills, including the ability to review complex documents, identify high-level themes, and develop solutions to rectify issues.
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage complex deliverables with minimal supervision.
  • Sound organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Proficiency in using and managing collaboration tools and platforms.

Other Information There may be times when it is required to work outside normal business hours i.e. evenings and weekends to meet operational and/or stakeholder requirements, and dependant on work deliverables, the role may be required to undertake travel. We operate a hybrid working model.
