Longreach Tourist Park is a key accommodation provider within Longreach, the home of Qantas Founder’s Museum, Stockman’s Hall of Fame, Outback Pioneers and Outback Aussie Tours, The Spirit of the Outback, Longreach Powerhouse and Historical Museum and the natural attractions of the Thomson River, Lochern National Park and Iningai Nature Reserve. Longreach Tourist Park is a true outback experience, full of colourful characters promoting Longreach and the Queensland Outback. Longreach Tourist Park is located less than 2km from the centre of town and Longreach Historical Railway Station. We are currently seeking a Full-Time Grounds & Maintenance Supervisor

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Park Manager, you will be responsible for the overall upkeep and improvement of our grounds, gardens and facilities, as well as general maintenance of our park. You will oversee a small team. You must enjoy working around people and be able to communicate easily and confidently putting forward a positive feel to team members and guests. You will take pride in your appearance, be self-motivated, have an eye for detail, a passion for maintenance, grounds and gardens, and a willingness to learn and apply learnt knowledge.

REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in grounds and property maintenance in a hospitality environment. The successful applicant will require a driver’s licence.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Staff management and supervision
  • Presenting the park grounds (i.e. leaf blowing, clearing of rubbish and debris, presentation of all grounds and facilities & reporting unsafe environments).
  • General repairs of park property (demonstrated handyperson skills and experience highly regarded)
  • General gardening and garden maintenance.
  • Undertake any other duties as requested by the Park Manager.
  • Ground’s maintenance, carpentry and/or similar experience desired.
  • Experience with power tools, equipment and zero turn ride on mower.
  • Maintaining buildings, plant equipment and grounds.
  • Attending to reactive and preventative maintenance across the park.
  • Assisting trades and services to ensure the management of repairs occurs in a timely manner, and those works clearly communicated to the guest services team.
  • Working with our guests with a professional and courteous manner.
  • Work with the management team to improve the environment efficiencies of the property in all aspects.
  • Attend to after-hours call outs 2-3 nights per week.

 You Will Bring:

  • Previous experience working in a similar role.
  • Have demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team and have the ability to lead a small team effectively.
  • Great customer service skills teamed with a positive attitude and a strong attention to detail.
  • Positive, Energetic, friendly attitude with the ability to communicate effectively with the park team and guests as required.
  • Have demonstrated ability to plan, follow direction, prioritize and meet set deadlines.
  • This is a salaried position including some on-call responsibilities.
