This Role’s Impact

The Assistant to the Executive Pastor supports the ministry of Hope Centre by serving the Executive Pastor with excellence, organisation, and care. Through stewarding communication, preparation, and practical responsibilities, this role helps the Executive Pastor lead with clarity and focus. In fulfilling these responsibilities, the Assistant lives out their own calling to build the church through service and support, contributing to a healthy, effective ministry environment that strengthens the church as a whole.

Position-Specific Responsibilities

  • Calendar & Workflow Stewardship: Ensures the Executive Pastor’s schedule, priorities, and commitments are well‑managed, coordinated, and proactively planned so he is consistently positioned to lead effectively. 
  • Communication & Information Flow: Manages incoming and outgoing communication on behalf of the Executive Pastor, ensuring clarity, professionalism, and timely flow of information across staff, ministries, and external contacts. 
  • Ministry & Team Coordination: Supports alignment across ministries by coordinating with staff, ministry leaders, and external partners, ensuring decisions, information, and next steps are communicated and followed through. 
  • Meeting Preparation & Follow‑Through: Prepares briefing material, agendas, and notes for the Executive Pastor; distributes outcomes as required; and monitors action items to ensure follow‑up and completion. 
  • Operational & Ministry Logistics: Provides practical and logistical support for ministry activities, events, and gatherings, including reviewing rosters, supporting occasional rostering tasks as required, and ensuring teams have the right information and resources. 
  • Research & Resource Support: Assists the Executive Pastor in gathering research, data, and resources to support preaching, teaching, and leadership preparation. 
  • Task & Priority Management: Helps maintain visibility, organisation, and progress of the Executive Pastor’s workload by tracking tasks, monitoring deadlines, and supporting prioritisation. 
  • Guest Ministry Assistance: Assists with the practical and logistical needs related to guest ministries when required, helping ensure they are welcomed, supported, and resourced without assuming responsibility for managing them.

Core Support Role Responsibilities

  • Empower ministry leaders to shepherd and support those within your ministry, with the primary aim to help every person develop and flourish in their own personal relationship with Jesus Christ (Acts 20:28).
  • Provide pastoral care to those belonging to the ministry you support when appropriate, liaising with your ministry leader when necessary.
  • Be responsible for any rostering, communication, and general care of any teams assigned to you, ensure they have everything they need to serve well.
  • Steward budgets and finances of the ministry you support within the guidelines and processes outlined by the Hope Centre Finance Team.
  • Steward physical resources (such as rooms, vehicles and other equipment) associated with the ministry you support
  • Participate in all location team meetings and events
  • Collaborate with other support team members to share and develop ideas and methods which help support Hope Centre ministries function more effectively and efficiently.

The person we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone who brings a calm, reliable presence to a fast‑paced ministry environment. This person will need to be highly organised, communicate clearly, and handle sensitive information with absolute discretion. A current Blue Card and driver’s license are required, and experience in an administrative assistant role is advantageous.

This person will enjoy working behind the scenes, supporting leadership, solving problems proactively, and keeping details moving so ministry can flourish. Above all, we’re seeking someone with a servant‑hearted, team‑oriented approach who is eager to learn, adaptable, and passionate about contributing to the mission of Hope Centre through excellent administrative ministry.

Work Location: Brisbane

Hours: 38/Week across Sun-Thurs.

Contract: Until June 30, 2026.
