The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Fabrication and Sheet Metal Technician to join our advanced manufacturing team. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality fabrication and sheet metal forming processes using specialised tools and CNC equipment in accordance with engineering specifications and production process data.

You’ll work on challenging and complex aerospace components, collaborating with engineering and production teams to refine processes, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Position Duties

  • Perform sheet metal forming and general fabrication processes on metal components to a high-quality standard.
  • Operate CNC equipment such as brake press, waterjet cutter, and CNC router to produce precision components.
  • Use basic measuring tools to check parts against engineering drawings and data.
  • Manage materials and ensure compliance with handling and storage requirements.
  • Interpret and apply production process data to achieve accurate and consistent outcomes.
  • Identify and resolve production issues and contribute to process improvements.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and traceability for all production activities.
  • Promote a safe, clean, and organised work environment.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimise processes and standards.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to team members to build capability and technical expertise.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Relevant trade qualification in Engineering – Fabrication Trade, Sheet Metal, Mechanical or a closely related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in fabrication and sheet metal forming, preferably within aerospace or automotive industries.
  • Strong understanding of CNC operations and sheet metal forming standards.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation, 3D models and work instructions.
  • Proven problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
