Traffic Controller

About the role As a Traffic Controller at HEH Civil in Cape Tribulation, Queensland, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and flow of traffic at various worksites. Reporting to the site supervisor, this casual position is responsible for managing the movement of vehicles, pedestrians, and equipment through construction zones, utilising your expertise in traffic management and control.

What you’ll be doing

• Implementing and monitoring traffic control plans to manage the flow of traffic at construction sites
• Directing the movement of vehicles, pedestrians, and equipment through work zones using hand signals, stop/slow bats, and other traffic control devices
• Maintaining and adjusting traffic control measures as needed to address changing site conditions
• Ensuring compliance with relevant safety regulations and workplace policies
• Providing ongoing communication with site supervisors, team members, and other stakeholders
• Assisting with the set-up and removal of traffic control signage and equipment

What we’re looking for

• Current QLD Traffic Controller (TC) licence
• QLD Traffic Management Implementation (TMI) licence desirable
• Current driver’s licence and own reliable transport
• Ability to travel to and from site independently
• Experience as a Traffic Controller or in a similar traffic management role
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively direct and coordinate traffic
• Ability to work safely and efficiently in a dynamic construction environment
• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills to adapt to changing site conditions
• Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays as required
