Heffron is seeking a detail‑focused Payroll & Accounts Payable Officer to support our finance team with accurate, timely and dependable financial processing. If you enjoy balancing payroll responsibilities with hands‑on AP work, we’d love to hear from you.
About the Role
Working as part of our experienced finance team, your contribution will ensure high‑quality administration across Accounts Payable and Payroll. Your work will help maintain financial integrity, compliance, and the reliable data that supports informed decision‑making across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end‑to‑end Accounts Payable, including supplier setup, invoice processing and timely payments.
- Process expenses, accruals and prepayments in alignment with financial timelines and GST requirements.
- Perform supplier and general ledger reconciliations, resolving discrepancies promptly.
- Deliver accurate, timely fortnightly Payroll processing for all employees.
- Maintain Payroll compliance, including PAYG, Superannuation Guarantee and STP
reporting.
- Complete month‑end and year‑end tasks, including journals and audit preparation.
- Maintain the fixed asset register.
About You
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience with a similar-sized payroll (around 100 payees) and previous experience in Employment Hero Payroll, Keypay or a similar system.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in an accounts payable environment and ideally previous experience with NetSuite or similar ERP system
- Tertiary qualifications in accounting, payroll or a related discipline.
- Solid understanding of finance processes, debits/credits and financial controls.
- Intermediate Excel skills (formulas, tables, pivot tables).
- Strong communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
- A proactive mindset with strong problem‑solving ability.
