Our Perth office is recruiting a Market Manager – responsible for supporting sustainable and profitable growth by identifying market opportunities, strengthening broker engagement and enhancing pipeline governance across the Western Region. The role provides structured analytical insights, operational coordination and strategic market support to underwriting teams, while reinforcing HDI’s position as a technical, underwriting-led organisation.

Key responsibilities and duties will include (but not limited to):

  • Identify growth opportunities within the existing portfolio and assess potential for new product distribution across the Western Region.
  • Develop and maintain detailed broker profiling aligned to HDI’s “Know Your Broker” methodology, including the management of a structured broker intelligence database.
  • Produce monthly broker production briefs and quarterly broker performance reports to support underwriting insights and broker accountability.
  • Develop, implement and oversee the Western Region pipeline management framework, ensuring accuracy, transparency and effective governance of opportunities.
  • Coordinate multi-line deals in close collaboration with underwriting teams to support quality outcomes.
  • Assist with the preparation, consolidation and validation of market, broker and portfolio reporting.
  • Support the identification, engagement and development of new and emerging broker relationships within the region.
  • Collate and structure account level information to enable informed underwriting decision making.

Skills and Experience:

  • Tertiary qualification in business, finance, insurance or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and autonomously.
  • Demonstrated ability to time manage and prioritise.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Proven track record of delivering results and fostering relationships.
  • High level of numeracy and computer literacy (Excel and MS Office).
  • Experience in the insurance industry, ideally in a market management, distribution or a related analytical/commercial role.
  • Demonstrated experience working with broker networks and supporting underwriting-led distribution models.
  • Proven capability in data analysis, reporting and pipeline or portfolio management.
  • Strong analytical capability with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • High level of IT literacy, including the ability to utilise CRM systems, reporting tools and data platforms effectively.
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with underwriters and internal stakeholders, while reinforcing an underwriting led market approach.
  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to interpret data, identify trends and translate insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Builds effective working relationships with brokers and underwriting teams while reinforcing an underwriting-led approach.
  • Strategic Awareness: Understands market dynamics and aligns activity with HDI’s broader distribution and growth strategy.
  • Governance & Discipline: Ensures strong pipeline management, reporting accuracy and adherence to agreed frameworks.
  • Integrity: Demonstrates professionalism, ethical behaviour and sound judgement in all interactions.
