The Graduate Data Analyst will support the Data & Analytics team in improving data quality, data ingestion, and analytics capability across the business. The role focuses on assisting with the collection, transformation, validation, and visualisation of data to enable informed business decisions.

Working closely with senior analysts, data engineers, and cross‑functional stakeholders, the role provides hands‑on exposure to modern data tools and practices while developing a strong understanding of how data supports underwriting, claims, finance, and operational processes. Over the course of the fixed‑term contract, the candidate will progressively build technical capability and take on increasing responsibility within a governed analytics environment.

Key Duties:

  • Support the development of Python‑based transformation processes to convert raw data into clean, structured, analytics‑ready datasets.

  • Help design and implement automated data quality checks (e.g. completeness, consistency, basic reasonableness) and support the investigation of data issues and exceptions.

  • Assist in improving existing business processes through automation using Python, VBA, and Power Apps, under guidance.

  • Help document data processes, assumptions, and transformations to support knowledge sharing and governance.

  • Assist in designing, building, and maintaining Power BI dashboards to support reporting across claims, expenses, finance, and portfolio data.

  • Support the ongoing improvement and documentation of reporting logic to ensure clarity, consistency, and trust in outputs.

  • Build practical experience with modern data tools and platforms, including SQL, Python, dbt, Snowflake, and Power BI.

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (completed or near completion) in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Exposure to a corporate or professional environment (e.g. internships, part-time roles, graduate programs).

  • Demonstrated experience using Python, SQL, or similar tools through university projects, internships, or personal work.

  • Foundational understanding of relational databases and basic data modelling concepts (e.g. tables, keys, simple fact/dimension structures).

  • Exposure to data transformation or analytics workflows (e.g. ELT/ETL concepts, scripting, or data preparation tools).

  • Interest in working with modern analytics platforms such as dbt and Snowflake (hands‑on experience desirable but not required).

This is a great opportunity for a motivated, proactive and professional individual to join our Actuarial & Analytics team and meaningfully contribute to the continued growth of our Australian business.
