Data Analyst

We are looking for a Data Analyst to join our Actuarial team. This role is ideal for someone with a sharp eye for detail, who enjoys problem-solving and is comfortable working with large volumes of data. You will play a key role in improving data quality, increasing efficiencies and communicating effectively between technical and non-technical stakeholders.

This is a critical role in turning complex information into clear, actionable insights to claims, underwriting, actuarial and management. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to enhance passion for data and analytics by obtaining visibility across the entire business. It demands and rewards individuals that are highly proactive with a solutions-focused mindset and strong communication skills.

Key Duties:

  • Develop and create data connections using SQL queries and DBT to extract, transform and load data from various source systems for use within the business.
  • Design and create processes to transform the raw data into clean, structured and analytics-ready datasets.
  • Design and create database management tools to collect and store underwriting, policy and claims data within local pricing tariffs and processing workbooks.
  • Design and create database management tools to collect and store all other local data sources such as local IBNR, Reinsurance arrangements, investment returns, master asset listings for accumulation and capital modelling etc.
  • Implement and maintain best practices for data modelling and data governance.
  • Power BI (live connections) and technical setup to extract data out of Policy and Claims Handling systems as well as financial ledger systems.
  • Includes extracting data out of CRM and Actuarial Pricing and Reserving systems in future environment.
  • Aid the Head of Operations with technical system feature rollouts within CRM and other potential projects.
  • Aid Finance in finding ways to combine, generate and extract data to automate statutory reporting requirements.

Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working with data and/or related role within the financial services industry.
  • Bachelors Degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science or related field.
  • Advanced Proficiency in MS Excel/VBA.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Python, R and/or SQL.
  • Proficiency in data visualisation platforms such as Power BI.
  • General Insurance Industry experience desired.
