Actuarial Data Analyst: Melbourne or Sydney.

In this role you will be responsible for maintaining scripts and data models that extract, transform and consolidate the inflow of claims data from various Third-Party Administrators (TPA’s), enhancing and improving data models with underwriting and pricing data to form a complete and balanced dataset view for actuarial analysis, identifying claim cost trends and underwriting profitability. 

You will also perform regular audits, reconciliation and validation checks on TPA claims data as well as underwriting and pricing data, collaborate with claims, actuarial and operations to define data requirements, enhance data received and improve reporting/monitoring capabilities while proactively engaging with internal teams and stakeholders to present findings, explain implications, and guide decision-making. 

This is a critical role in turning complex information into clear, actionable insights to claims, underwriting, actuarial and management. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to enhance passion for data and analytics by obtaining visibility across the entire business. Key Duties:

  • Maintain python scripts and Power BI data model that collect, transform and combine claims data received from third party sources.

  • Enhance data model to collect and combine underwriting and pricing data with current claims data model

  • Manage and continuously improve Power BI dashboards that outline underwriting and claims KPI’s, ensuring it remains accurate, scalable, and aligned with business requirements.

  • Assist claims and finance with regular reconciliation between incoming claims data and the internal policy and claims administration system

  • Produce monthly reporting packs for internal and Head Office stakeholders, actively engaging the business to ensure insights are understood, discussed, and applied.

  • Produce monthly reporting packs for clients and brokers to provide insights for renewal discussion and new business opportunities

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Computer Science or related field Advanced Proficiency in MS Excel/VBA.

  • 1-3 years working within insurance, finance or related sector

  • Hands-on experience working with large datasets across multiple sources

  • Working knowledge of data tools such as Python, R, SQL, Power BI, Excel, VBA etc.

  • Experience communicating and collaborating with a range of stakeholders

  • Exposure to actuarial or pricing software, such as ResQ, Radar, Emblem, or similar actuarial modelling tools

  • Demonstrates interest in probability and statistical models or concepts
