About the role:
A Gearbox Mechanical Fitter is responsible for the completion of assigned tasks as directed by their immediate Leading Hand and Supervisor, ensuring that all work is kept to a high quality and tradesperson-like quality.
Key Responsibilities:
The Gearbox Mechanical Fitter will be responsible for:
• Performance of bench work which may include assembly and disassembly, modifications, cleaning, measuring, inspection, and testing.
• Report equipment all defects by way of Defect Report Form immediately to the supervisor.
• Be involved in risk assessment, development of job procedures and ensure Take 5’s are filled out prior to commencing each job task.
• Maintenance of documentation, service records, equipment, tools, and work areas as per procedures.
• Understand and apply procedures relating to safety and general work principles including the identification and reporting of hazards and incidents.
• Labour work may be necessary when crane is not operational or not required.
• PPE compliance and respect for safety equipment at all times.
• Good housekeeping and safe working habits are to be displayed at all times.
• Identification of necessary parts and consumables for order.
• Ensure that all work is kept to a high quality.
• Ensure quality assurance practices as required by the project are adhered to at all times.
• Employee to be first-in-line for quality control of own work.
• Participate in training programs and workshops to enhance skills and knowledge.
Remuneration:
• Terms and Conditions of Employment are as per the HBT Queensland Enterprise Agreement 2024
• Overtime available
• 36-hour ordinary hours
• EA increases
• Afternoon Shift Allowance of 15%
• Night Shift Allowance of 25%
• Weekend work shall be paid at double time for all hours
About You:
• Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter
• Trade Certificate
• Post-trade hydraulics are desirable.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with proficiency in using hydraulic assembly tools and equipment.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication skills and customer service orientation.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
