About the role:
The Field Service Engineer will be responsible for providing on-site support to customers while ensuring optimal performance and maintenance of the HBT product line. Additionally providing detailed performance data and reporting back to HBT to assist in continuous product improvement and reliability initiatives and projects.
You will be assessing, maintaining and supporting HBT equipment on customer sites, particularly in underground mining environments. You will leverage your technical expertise to audit, repair/replace components and provide guidance on HBT equipment. You will also directly monitor the equipment in production and provide technical equipment and productivity improvement recommendations to customers that will enhance the performance and reliability of the HBT equipment.
The Field Service Engineer’s key responsibilities include:
- Perform service tasks, identifying/resolving technical problems and making analysis through onsite activity in any service categories (installation and commissioning, maintenance, repairs, upgrades and retrofits)
- Proactively identifying potential equipment failures and requesting proactive corrective actions. Troubleshooting equipment failure and making recommendations to avoid repeating the problem in the future.
- Participate in and or lead RCA (Root Cause Analysis) processes as required.
- Coordinate, prepare, and ensure that all materials, parts, documentation, and equipment are available and at the appropriate quality for Service activities.
- Perform equipment health inspections, validation and parameter audits.
- Gather and analyse equipment performance using historical and electronic data to identify optimisation opportunities.
- Conduct required scheduled lifecycle auditing, and prepare comprehensive life cycle condition reports for the customers to assist in overhaul scope preparation and replacement equipment forecasting.
- Provide expert advice and support during breakdowns to minimise production losses.
- Develop, prepare, and deliver high-standard training to longwall personnel on HBT equipment operation and maintenance.
- Create and maintain a good relationship with customers and understand their needs
- Identify new sales opportunities and communicate them internally.
About you:
Qualifications/ Experience:
- Certificate III trade qualification in electrical or mechanical engineering.
- Certificate IV and above qualifications are highly regarded.
- Trainer and assessor qualifications are highly regarded.
- Previous experience providing technical support for high-performance machinery.
- Familiarity with the operation and maintenance of HBT equipment is highly desirable.
- Coal board medical certification is highly desirable.
- Underground experience in the longwall mining environment.
Essential Criteria:
- Strong focus on health and safety.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Full drivers licence.
- Willingness to travel to customer mine sites, including extended consecutive nights away from home.
- Availability to support customers outside of business hours and work alternative shifts (afternoon/night/weekend) as needed.
- Ability to work autonomously in a field environment and as part of a team.
- Excellent report-writing skills.
- Strong attention to detail, administrative skills and time management abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel and Word.
