We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Civil Designer to join our growing team. In this role, you will lead the design development of civil engineering projects under the supervision of the Project RPEQ, supported by drafting and design team members.
You will play a key role in delivering high-quality civil infrastructure projects including roadworks, drainage systems, utilities, and site development works. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Design Leadership and Delivery
– Prepare conceptual through to detailed civil designs with a strong focus on safety, due diligence, and transparency.
– Operate autonomously while reporting to the RPEQ and Project Manager to achieve project milestones and deliverables.
– Utilise AutoCAD, Civil 3D, 12D and related tools to develop models, drawings, and specifications.
Drafting and Documentation
– Produce and review accurate technical drawings suitable for RPEQ certification, authority approvals, and construction.
– Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, specifications, and internal QA processes.
Technical Support and Mentorship
– Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams to optimise design outcomes.
– Support and mentor design team members while contributing to resource planning and capability development.
Quality Assurance and Safety in Design
– Lead safety-in-design processes.
– Verify design calculations and review drawings and documentation for milestone submissions.
– Prepare design reports and supporting technical documentation.
Project Coordination
– Liaise with stakeholders including engineers, contractors, and authorities to integrate design components effectively.
– Participate in safety and design review meetings and contribute to project planning and scheduling.
Continuous Improvement
– Stay current with industry trends, software advancements, and best practices.
– Contribute to improving design workflows, modelling standards, and digital engineering processes.
– Share knowledge and support a collaborative, high-performing team culture.
ABOUT YOU
Qualifications
– Associate Degree, Diploma, or Degree in Civil Engineering / Engineering Technology (or related field).
– Relevant CAD drafting and design training highly regarded.
Technical Skills
– Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and 12D.
– Familiarity with GIS applications.
– Experience with BIM processes and deliverables is advantageous.
Experience
– Demonstrated experience in civil design, modelling, and drafting aspects for:
– Earthworks (conceptual and detailed grading)
– Roadworks, intersections, and car parks
– Stormwater drainage design (culverts, networks, channels – minor and major systems)
– Stormwater quality solutions
– Sewerage and water reticulation systems
– Erosion and sediment control (concept and detailed design)
– Subdivisional urban developments (master planning approaches advantageous)
– Commercial or multi-density projects
– Experience preparing design reports and work packages for authority approvals.
– Experience reviewing basis, analysis and management reports and liaising with Engineers during design development.
– Proven ability to mentor team members and contribute to collaborative design system development.
