Head Barista

We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Head Barista to lead the coffee culture at Little Walden at Happitat Adventure Park — our brand-new café in the Gold Coast hinterland, set against the backdrop of the world’s first Cliff Park and nature adventure destination.

This is your chance to do more than make coffee. At Little Walden, you’ll design, lead, and inspire a coffee program that matches the courage, joy, and transformation guests experience throughout Happitat. From perfect espresso extractions to rituals that elevate the guest journey, you’ll craft moments that are as memorable as the adventures themselves.

And this is just the beginning. With WALDEN opening at 1696 Beechmont Road, you’ll play a leading role in shaping its coffee identity from inception to launch — designing systems, training teams, and setting standards across two venues.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the coffee program at Little Walden.
• Develop service rituals that turn every coffee into a Happitat ‘wow’ moment.
• Train, mentor, and inspire baristas and front-of-house staff.
• Ensure every cup meets the highest standard of quality and consistency.
• Manage stock, supplier relationships, and equipment maintenance.
• Collaborate with leadership to design WALDEN’s coffee systems and guest experience.
• Champion Happitat’s values of sustainability, creativity, and transformation.

What We’re Looking For

• Minimum 3 years’ barista experience, with time in a leadership role.
• Deep knowledge of specialty coffee, equipment, and extraction techniques.
• Skilled in milk texturing, latte art, and delivering consistency under pressure.
• A hands-on leader who builds culture, not just service standards.
• Passion for hospitality and guest connection — seeing coffee as an experience, not a transaction.
• Organised, reliable, and proactive.
• Availability during weekends, public and school holidays.
• Valid driver’s licence.
