THE ROLE

An exciting new opportunity exists for an experienced and motivated Operations Manager to join the Hallett Group Concrete team. Reporting to the Executive General Manager, Concrete, you will have an uncompromising commitment to safety, service the needs of internal and external customers, whilst building and maintaining a productive working relationship with direct reports and stakeholders, all whilst leading and managing the operations for the largest ready-mix concrete supplier in SA.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES

  • Manage business operations by managing people, business planning, and administrative and business functions to support operational efficiency including the appropriate allocation of staff and resources
  • Implement people strategies including resourcing activities, workforce planning, knowledge management, performance management, learning and development programs
  • Communicate effectively to ensure the smooth running of company operations
  • Consulting with staff and the management team to maintain effective organisational and team communication
  • Develop strong relationships with employees and managers alike to foster motivation and teamwork
  • Identify and/or contribute to business continuous improvement changes
  • Ensure availability of plant and fleet to meet operational requirements
  • Manage the agitator fleet compliance and availability aspects of the group

QUALIFICATIONS | EXPERIENCE | CAPABILITIES

  • Tertiary education in leadership & commercial management (preferred)
  • 2 years of proven success in a concrete operations management position (or equivalent)
  • Strong skills in budget development and oversight
  • Excellent ability to delegate responsibilities while maintaining organisational control of branch operations and customer service
  • Proficiency in conflict management and business negotiation processes
  • Knowledge of business productivity software and an aptitude for learning new applications
