Farm Hand / Operator – Colebatch 

 

Faulkner Farming is seeking a motivated Farm Hand / Operator to join our team at our Colebatch Aggregation; a 6,500ha mixed mainly cropping and some grazing operation that is 25km South of Tintinara and 190km South of Adelaide.    

Reporting to the Farm Manager, this hands-on role plays a key part in the day-to-day running of the farming operation. Duties include crop seeding and spraying, harvesting, grain storage and handling, fencing and general property upkeep.  

The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in broadacre farming, confidence in operating modern agricultural machinery, and a proactive, can-do approach to getting the job done. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Operate machinery to plant, cultivate, spray, and harvest crops under direction.  

  • Grain storage operations including bunker in loading and out loading  

  • Assist with maintenance of machinery and vehicles used in cropping  

  • Monitor crop growth and operational timelines under guidance  

  • Undertake pest, disease and weed management activities 

  • Assist with repairs and maintenance of fences, buildings and infrastructure 

  • Contributing to a strong safety culture by following all WHS, environmental, and compliance requirements. 

 

Skills and Experience: 

We are looking for candidates who possess the following: 

  • Experience in farm operations, including cropping, machinery operation, grain storage/handling and general farm maintenance. 

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team. 

  • Strong problem-solving ability and initiative, with sound decision-making skills in the field 

  • A commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement. 

  • A current driver’s licence (essential).  

  • Experience with grain bunker in loading and out loading is desirable, but not essential 

  • Advantageous qualifications/experience include: 

  • Heavy Vehicle (HR) Truck Licence 

  • ChemCert accreditation 

  • First Aid certificate 

  • Confined Space and/or Working at Heights certifications 

  • Experience using AgWorld and AgriWebb platforms

About the Property: 

Located 25 km south of Tintinara and about 190 km south of Adelaide, the Colebatch aggregation is a 6,500-hectare mixed farming operation focused primarily on cropping, with some grazing. The enterprise includes approximately 5,000 hectares of winter cropping, producing a diverse rotation of barley, wheat, canola, cereal hay and legumes such as lupins and lucerne. 

Situated in the progressive farming district of Tintinara, the property benefits from a strong local community with access to schooling, sporting facilities and a supportive rural network, making it an attractive location for both agricultural production and lifestyle.
